For one week only during July , two garages in Main Street became the centre of activity for petalling ladies, men and children….all huddled over well dressing boards. Visitors to the
village stopped and asked about the history of well dressings, inspected the designs, took lots of photos, and even stuck their fingers into the clay! But most of them donated generously to the charity box, placed in a prominent position.
The total amount of monies collected from the boxes, sales of cards, books, plants, dvd’s, teas and cakes was very similar to last year. This has enabled us to donate £200
each to 3 charities: Village Aid, National Osteoporosis Society and Crossroads Sitting
Service.
As you will no doubt have seen, the main board, designed by Tricia Gillies, was ‘A view through a window over to Minninglow’. A stunning picture which used all natural materials, mainly locally sourced.

The Junior board was inspired by the recent Royal Wedding and all things
‘British’. Lucy Beckett amalgamated several ideas and produced a simple, striking and effective design.

Rev Tony blessed the wells and said some very inspiring and appropriate
words. Our numbers were boosted during the blessing by around fifty
visitors on a ‘Well Dressing’ coach trip !
A Very Big Thank You to everyone who helped during well dressing week: moving heavy boards, providing garage space, supplying tea, donating plants, books and cakes, being ‘on duty’ in the kitchen, producing stocks of cards and dvds with the latest 2011 designs ….the list could go on.
Well done! Same again next year?
