Over Haddon Village Hall was used as a half-way stop by students from the University of Sheffield when they embarked on 24-hour, 50-mile walk for their Big Walk 2017 project.

This year, the students were taking part in their trek in aid of the Sheffield Scanner, the university’s £2 million fund-raising campaign to bring a ground-breaking MRI-PET facility to Sheffield, the first such facility in Yorkshire.

The aim of the Big Walk 2017 was to raise £100,000 towards the £2 million target. Participants – staff, alumni, students and friends of the university – walked as far as they could along a circular 50-mile route in 24 hours, from 7am on Friday, June 30 to 7am on Saturday, July 1 July.
